Atlanta dealer prices vary widely. Dealer nort of Atlanta quoted $844 and another south of the airport quoted $555. Dealers in between were around $600 or $700. |

After removing the accessory belt and the timing belt cover, I aligned the timing marks as recommended. The tensioner pulley was simple to work with so the job went rather quickly. I also replaced the serpentine accessory belt at the same time. There is not a tool made to hold the tensioner pulley so I had to fabricate one out of a piece of steel. Once I did that, things with a lot more smoothly. I am a "part-time, self taught" mechanic and I did all the work myself with the aid of a repair manual. The local garages wanted $500-$600 to do the work. |

This was a much more reasonable cost (from a Honda dealership in Pittsburgh) than I have ever seen before. I was expecting $800-$1000 to replace these belts and was pleasantly surprised to get this quote. The dealership is Shadyside Honda. They do great work. |

lexus told me they would charge $890 for the timing belt, i called a toyota dealership and they were $100 less!! same quality work and parts without lexus on the garage door. any reasonable price is worth paying, because on these engines if the belt breaks it can cost thousands of dollars rebuilding the engine. |

Spent $300 on labor, the rest for 3 acc/T belts, 4 rollers/tensioner, water pump/thermostat I obtained on-line to ensure OEM part quality. Got other quotes from $800 up for labor/parts combined. Best to replace all bearing devices if you plan on keeping the vehicle. |

I had to have my timing belt replaced on my 1998 Neon. The cost broke down like this. Parts $124 (timing belt and tension pulley). $398 for labor (this included diagnostic tests to tell what was wrong with my car in the first place). I passed on new water pump as this car will be sold soon. |
