Don't know much about cars, went in for an oil change right over 60K miles. Transmission Oil was pretty dark. The service was 199 but they charge extra due to the type of fluid my vehicle uses...so it came to about 250 after all was said and done...

Some of the post are describing a Transmission fluid change and calling it a Transmission Flush. During a Transmission Flush you have a flush added to your transmission fluid and circulated to lose deposits. Then 100% of the old fluid is removed and replaced with new fluid usually 12+ quarts. When you drop the transmission pan you only change about 5-6 quarts of the old fluid leaving the rest of the old dirty fluid in the system. Some of you may need to ask to see what was done to your vehicle. Consider this, a good flush and conditioner for this type service cost around $30 dollars and replacing 12+ quarts of Mercon V at about $5.50 per quart is $65+ then the shop has got to make a profit; say $45 and you are already up to $141. There is no way you can get a Transmission FLUSH for some of the prices you have quoted.

Had flush with filter and gasket replaced--engine and pan were cleaned to inspect for leaks. It was test driven and I am to come back in two weeks for another free inspection. Husband felt I was taken to the cleaners. I felt they did a great job and the price was average.

I think Valvoline is high...38 for the oil change, 130 for the transmission...the car is running more smoothly. But they were very high-sell and you'd think they'd at least have a waiting room. I'm going back to Midas next time. (99 for transmission, 27 oil)

I was quoted a price from Valvoline for about $135.00 for a transmission flush. My Blazer never had this service since I bought it new in 2003. I currently have 139K miles on it. I think they are charging alot of money for this service. I think $60 dollars would be a fair price. I need to shop around for a better price. Hey, I'm not a rich guy...

The car shifted fine but it would go into gear a little hard. Now it shifts perfectly smooth. I am glad I got it done. Paying 120 bucks every 30k miles is better than paying thousands of dollars for a new tranny.

Terrible shifting prior to flush, often would not shift from 3 to 4. I thought I may need a new trans. After flushing, perfect shifting and smooth operation, done at 123k. The type of flushing done was T-Tech forward flushing using the cars own pump to re-circ the fluid so no damage from pressure flushing is caused. Hard to find this type here, but worth it.

Just got it flushed, first time its ever been done as far an i know. 77000 miles. Haven't driven it enough to know if its caused any problems. Trans was fine before but fluid was brown, didn't smell too burnt, no shaving in it. $100 for parts seem expensive (but 7qts of mercron v isn't that cheap either) and $90 for labour.

Just bought a used 05 truck from local Ford dealer that had tranny flushed. Drove fine for weekend test and for 2 weeks after I bought it. Then shifting problems with auto tranny, burnt smelling fluid when I check it (though it looks good), vibration at highway speeds starts another week later. Was told my tranny is gonna crash and burn very soon by tranny tech. Guess what, just before dealer sold truck, they FLUSHED the tranny. Dealer tried to help diagnose problem but could find no error codes in computer on truck and did all other checks (fluid level, etc...) I think I will never have this done again.

A transmission flush made junk out of a good transmission that prior to the flush had no problems
There is not a car manufacture that recommends that their transmission be flushed. Flushing a transmission with high mileage can do serious damage
After small claims court I was awarded 2,400.00 for the cost of a rebuild
