Seemed a little steep. The shop told me that they used a single flywheel instead of a double flywheel and it saved $800. This shop bills off of a standard charge sheet. (manual trans 2003 1.8t jetta 64k miles)

Nice people at the shop although I am not sure how much this usually runs, but I felt that the cost for this repair was very expensive.

got ripped off asked for my parts back and shop refused.. car still does not run correctly clutch pedal has play and still goes to the floor.
Parts were way excessive i.e. parts cost about $50 each and was charged $240.00 for master cylinder and $110.00 for slave cylinder. then refused to return old parts. Went back twice to complain got ripped off. Was referred to shop by Goodyear Tires.

It's hard work, due that manufacturers design newer vehicles hard to see and reach bolts that connects all assembly but with patience and investigating manuals or other experiences, you can do your own labor and save a lot of money. Also if you are creative and find ways to reach these parts by doing some cutting in the panels you save also a lot of work. I replaced the slave cylinder, clutch, pressure plate, throught bearing, and brass bushing in the crank, also two quarts of oil. Victor

Blew my third slave cylinder at 99,500 miles (M5OD's horrible design, and cheap parts from before)

Takes a good 4-5 hours to pull and swap everything, had a friend resurface the flywheel while I was at it.

I made a mistake and bought parts on line got a clutch kit with pressure plate with bearing and slave for 135$. I found a place to do the install but they told me if I bring my own parts no warranty. I spent 250 on the clutch install with slave, the fly wheel needed to be turned and that was 75$ extra, they noticed the master was bad as well so that was 250 with labor and parts. However during the test drive the slave blew a line. They told me they sell me a slave at cost however they need to drop whole clutch and charge for labor another 200! However they will now cover the whole job under warranty since its their master and slave. I got hosed by eaton clutch supply, and I just had a similar one installed in my wifes ford focus which was 125$ for the kit and about 500 in labor for slave and entire kit. So now I am freaked out hers will fail!

purchased an EXTENDED warranty October 2006 when I bought my 2007 HHR Chevy. Was assured it would extend the warranty past the car loan which is five years. I have three years to go and part of the installment (in total $600 @ $10 per month on a five year loan). So what was I told? The "extended" warranty is only good for 40,000 miles. Who only drives 8,000 miles per year?

I recently had my transmission repaired in my 2003 focus 2.3 duratec w/5 speed including kevlar clutch pad, duel mass flywheel, pressure plate, and slave cylinder. Whatever you do order your own clutch kit and save big $$$ they tell you they cant warrenty your parts thats fine because the parts will only fail if improperly installed so your covered.I also gor a better clutch for less money than the $499.00 kit offered plus I replaced my duel mass flywheel all for what they wanted for the clutch kit itself.
