My car doesn't have a timing belt but rather a timing chain. What I had to replace was the water pump and serpintine belt or drive belt plus flush the cooling system and replace the coolant. The labor was about $300,the water pump $125., the belt $60 and the coolant was $35. |

My mileage is 70,000. Timing Belt Pkg replacement, including water pump, recommended at 60,000 - but I'll wait until 80,000. I've been quoted between $450 and $650 for the job. I average 7,000 miles per year |

1997 Rav4. POS. Can't believe it cost that much for a timing belt on a POS like that. I left it at the mechanic shop. They can keep it. I bought it for $1,100. |

I'm scoping prices on this... mechanic I trust said I need to replace three s-belts: alternator, power steering, and timing. Car is almost at 100k miles so cracked belts by now seems likely. Price seemed right as well but then I saw posts online of $100-$200, which freaked me out. |

All belts, water pump, spark plugs, oil change, plugs in engine, fixed a leak in coolent system by replacing a screw. Well worth the price. I am hoping if I spend money now maintaining there will be no big repairs in my future. |

Bought it at 98,000 Miles I now have 109,500 miles on it.. Knew It needed to be replaced around the time i bought it. I should have had him do it until waiting for now. But I guess I got a good price at a Honda Dealer for my Service. Also put in a new water pump and my brake pedal had a squeaking noise every time i pushed down. My back brakes just needed to be re adjusted and cleaned. |

My car has been running rough for about a year and for a week before the new timing belt extremely rough, the engine sounded like a diesel! The recommended mileage interval to have it changed is 105k miles, and my car had 105,080 miles when I had it done. The car runs like new again! I realize now I should have had it done about a year ago even though it was before the recommended mileage. |

So, I call for a quote on a timing belt replacement and all the others that come w/ it... Water pump, gaskets and such. The quote from the Lexus Dealer = $1500 - From the Toyota Dealer = $1100 - Local Certified Mechanic Shop - $950. I bought all the parts I needed online - $310. Then I went back to the local dealer and spent 350 in labor; a total of $670. I'M VERY SATISFIED. |
